
The first group of public health exchange students from the DoC, FMAS, RUSL spent a week in Copenhagen, as a part of the MoU signed between the Rajarata University of Sri Lanka and the University of Copenhagen. Best performers in Public Health in their third year got selected for this programme. The selection process was based on the public health module marks followed by an interview. Sandeepani Millawana, Guwani Nawarathna and Dinithi Herath were selected for 2019 exchange programme.
Maternal and Child Health Research Unit funds allocated for this purpose funded the airfare and the UoC host the students in Copenhagen. During their stay, they have participated in global health and public health activities with UoC students.
Dr.Janith Warnasekara, the department coordinator of the Global Health summer School 2019 accompanied three students representing the department. Dr.Warnasekara delivered a lecture on epidemiology of leptospirosis in Sri Lanka to global health students in Copenhagen and engaged in discussing future collaborative activities between two university.
Every year, 2-3 fourth year medical undergraduate will be given this opportunity. Students who are performing well in epidemiology, statistics, maternal and child health, demography and applied epidemiology module will be called for interviews. Based on the extra curricular activities, leadership qualities interview performances, a panel of academic will select the students for the programme. We encourage all current students to be aware of the opportunities available.
