
Representing the Faculty of Medicine and Allied Sciences, Rajarata University of Sri Lanka, junior lecturers, recent graduates and medical students attended the Early Career Global Public Health Conference on 11-12thApril 2019 organized by the Kuala Lumpur chapter of the Asia Pacific Academic Consortium for Public Health: the leading public health research institute of the region with 81 member institutes in 23 countries.
It was inspiring that the student presentations were high-quality scientific publications of their student research conducted under the Research in Medicine module covering a broad spectrum of critical research themes highly relevant to our Country and our society: knowledge and attitude of teachers regarding attention deficit hyperactive disorder; emotional intelligence and health status of prisoners; myopia among school students; breast cancer awareness among school children; knowledge, attitude and barriers to contraceptive use; psychological burden of dermatological conditions. The oral research presentations of the Faculty representatives were of international standard with sound scientific methodology and excellent presentation skills, portraying with pride the high-caliber, innovative research culture of the Faculty of Medicine and Allied Sciences, Rajarata University of Sri Lanka at this prestigious event.
